From ‘Triggered’ to Thriving A 5-Step Program to Heal Your Nervous System - Even When Everything Feels Like a Mess Inside

Why The Psychology of Yoga?

  1. Addresses the Subconscious, Not Just the Mind
Most therapy or self-help focuses on thinking and rationalizing. But emotional dysregulation and trauma live in the subconscious, which communicates through feeling, not thought. This book provides tools that reach the subconscious through breath, movement, and meditation, so real, lasting change is possible.

  1. Teaches Practical Skills for Emotional Regulation
Feeling triggered can leave people helpless. This book gives concrete techniques - Yoga Nidra, somatic mindfulness, and breathwork - to calm the nervous system, manage intense emotions, and regain control in real time.

  1. Transforms the Victim Mindset into Empowerment
People often feel at the mercy of their emotions or others’ actions. By addressing the shadow - those hidden, unresolved patterns - the book helps readers take ownership of their reactions, break old cycles, and feel steady and empowered.

  1. Combines Ancient Wisdom with Modern Science
This isn’t just spiritual guidance. Davina explains how yoga, meditation, and breathwork affect the brain and nervous system, grounding practices in neuroscience, psychology, and trauma research.

There’s a story I love about sailing and our emotions:

You don’t just learn to sail on calm waters—you learn to navigate storms, waves, and unpredictable currents.

The boat is your nervous system. The water is emotion. Sailing well means feeling fully, staying steady, and responding wisely, even when waves of anger, fear, or sadness hit hard.

For anyone feeling like a mess inside, learning to “sail” your emotional world is the key to thriving.
